SENATOR JAMES WELCH
Senator James ‘Jim’ Welch was elected in 2010 to represent the Hampden District, including his hometown of West Springfield, as well as neighborhoods in the communities of Springfield and Chicopee.
Jim is the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee of Financial Services and Senate Vice-Chair of the Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure; a member of the committees on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy, and Marijuana Policy.
Prior to the Senate, Jim was elected to the House in 2005, where he served on Financial Services, and as Vice-Chair of Bills in the Third Reading. He launched his career in public service as a West Springfield City Councilor.
Before he held public office, his education and private sector experience focused on finance and banking. Jim graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management from Westfield State University and went on to work for State Street Bank and later, A.G. Edwards Financial.
Jim and his wife Kara are parents of two boys.

She writes feature stories for magazines like Cosmo Latina, speaks at universities, business centers, chambers, and non-profit organizations.
